At the age of seventeen, John de Ruiter was unexpectedly immersed into a depth of reality unlike anything he had known. He experienced profound inner contentment that disappeared abruptly after one year. His futile quest to return to that reality took the form of an exhausting two-year outer and inward search. John finally abandoned all striving, unconditionally accepting his present condition, as is.

From this state of openness and softness of heart, John was immediately immersed in the benevolent reality of pure consciousness or being: truth. "I now knew that I not only loved truth more than my own personal life, but that truth could only be truly known through sheer honesty, and surrender in openness and softness to what that honesty reveals. Truth is loving Reality with an open hand, instead of pursuing Reality with the clenched hand of personal necessity and demand."

John remained in that state of surrender, allowing personal, self-created patterns and constructs of mind and emotion to perish. He had countless awakenings and inner revelations as his consciousness in truth expanded. "More and more deeply I realized that I would only serve truth; live in surrender to what I know... at any personal cost."

"Absolute surrender within, through openness and softness of heart, unfailingly releases the false, leaving behind just truth."
